Credit card’s coming with liability protection is a fairly new practice for credit card companies. This practice first came into existence in the last 20 years or so, after many incidents involving card holders driving rented vehicles. However, today, many credit cards do not offer their holders liability protection of any kind. If you are interested in finding out which credit card companies offer liability protection for their card holders, here are a few tips and tricks that you may want to look over;

-American Express does not offer rental car liability protection. While American Express does offer some insurance coverage for rental cars (depending on which card of theirs you currently hold), they do not offer any kind of liability protection. They explicitly state on their website that if you wish to obtain liability insurance for your rented vehicle, you need to do so from the car rental company that you will be renting the car from. However, they do allow you to upgrade and pay for this feature with a limited number of their credit cards.

-Discover Card does offer basic car rental insurance for a small fee each month. However, Discover does not offer any kind of liability insurance. They also suggest that you try contacting your car rental company if you wish to receive car liability protection.

It can be very hard to find a credit card that offers liability protection in a rented vehicle. Your best bet would probably be to call around to different credit card companies and ask what kind of liability protection they offer on rented vehicles, because many credit card companies do not even advertise that they have such a service available.
